Panthers to honor Bill Torrey tonight
The Florida Panthers will honor Bill Torrey by raising a commemorative banner before tonight's game against the Islanders, according to the Sun-Sentinel.
Before coming to Florida, Torrey was an iconic architect for the Islanders organization after assembling the dynastic teams that won four straight Stanley Cup Championships in the 80's.
After leaving Long Island, Torrey was recruited by Panthers owner Wane Huizenga and took on the role as Panthers president from 1993-2002; he remains an alternate governor for the Panthers.
The banner will feature the phrase "The architect" as well as an image of his signature bow tie.
