Polls closed on Coliseum vote; Public, team await results
As of 9 p.m. the polls have officially closed on today's pivotal vote for a new Coliseum.
Within the next few hours, the Islanders should know whether Nassau residents approved the referendum to borrow $400 million to build a new arena.
Until then, the team anxiously awaits the results while gathered at the media reception inside Nassau Coliseum.
The vote appears to be pretty close, although Newsday's Randi Marshall reported on Twitter that there has been a late surge in "Yes" voters.
