With one  special teams scrimmage already in the books, the Islanders will have another intra-squad match-up tomorrow morning at 11 am at the Coliseum.

Given the Islanders unique preseason schedule--they do not play their first exhibition game until next Wednesday--coach Scott Gordon wanted to get the team in game-playing mode with some live competition.

The Islanders followed a game-day schedule yesterday--workouts in the morning, pre-game meetings, warmups with music and everything--and Gordon said he was pleased with both the intensity and execution.

"It was funny. For a bunch of professional hockey players playing in an empty building, it was pretty noisy with all the talking and hitting. That was neat to see."

Rick DiPietro, who had a scheduled day off Thursday, will be in net tomorrow morning for his first simulated game-action of the pre-season, so that may be something to draw fans over to Uniondale on lazy Saturday.
