Ryan Jankowski lands new gig with Montreal
Former Islanders Assistant General Manager and Director of Amateur Scouting Ryan Jankowski, who was relieved of his duties earlier this month, was named Western amateur scout for the Montreal Canadiens this morning.
"It's a great opportunity and I'm excited and honored to be part of the Canadiens," Jankowski told Newsday. "I had a wonderful eight years with the Islanders and have to thank Charles Wang, Mike Milbury and Garth Snow for a tremendous opportunity."
"I also want to thank my staff for all their hard work and commitment," Jankowski continued. "I'm proud of what we accomplished and look forward to watching the development of the prospects."
When asked about his unexpected dismissal from the Islanders--which came the night before prospect camp opened mid-July--Jankowski said he would like to focus on the future instead.
"I had a great eight years with the Islanders and now I'm excited about moving forward with Montreal."
In his new role Jankowski, who was courted by Montreal within 24 hours of being let go by the Islanders, will be responsible for scouting the Western region of North America.
