Im sure the Islanders would like to be giving thanks for their first win in over a month, but instead the team will bear the weight of a 14-game winless streak during their holiday practice.

A couple bright spots from last night's 4-3 OT loss to Columbus?

--The team scored three goals for the first time since November 27, a 5-3 loss to Montreal.

--Travis Hamonic had a very encouraging first NHL game...calm, steady and physical. Hardly looked rattled making the jump from the AHL to the NHL

--Rick DiPietro looked good again. Seems like he's getting into a groove.

One very ugly stat, however?

The team is 0-for-26 on the PP over the past 7 games.

Doug Weight (back), Zenon Konopka and Trent Hunter  (lower body injury) did not practice. It appeared Hunter injured himself after delivering a hit along the boards early in the third period last night. Zenon Konopka also had the day off.

Jack Hillen (concussion) skated with the team, so that's an encouraging sign.
