Roloson stops record 58 shots

Dwayne Roloson made 58 saves, the most by an NHL goalie in 18 years, as the Islanders defeated host Toronto, 4-3, in overtime. Josh Bailey scored the winning goal at 4:18 of overtime. Roloson stopped all 20 Maple Leafs shots in a scoreless first period. The Islanders scored three times in the second period with Sean Bergenheim's shorthanded goal making the score 3-0 before Phil Kessel scored for Toronto. The Leafs managed to even the score in the third period with two goals on 23 shots at Roloson, who then stopped all three shots he faced in overtime. The Islanders were outshot by Toronto 61-21 in the game. The last goalie to turn aside at least 58 shots was Ron Tugnutt, who had 70 saves for the Quebec Nordiques at Boston on March 21, 1991.
