Training camp officially opens; six players released

UPDATE: Six players have been released from camp today: Casey Cizikas,Tony DeHart, Steven Tarasuk, Alex O'Neil, Justin Taylor, Corey Syvret.

Today marks the official first day of training camp at IceWorks in Syosset-- players are gathered here for off-ice testing and physicals-- but the team won't take the ice until tomorrow.

Nothing too exciting here, but I'll catch up with a couple of guys as a prelude to Saturday's action and provide any housekeeping details that arise.

***Robin Figren took a shot to the right foot in last night's rookie game--a 2-1 OT loss to the Bruins prospects at TD Garden in Boston. Figren is on crutches now and will get X-rays soon.

***Looking unlikely that Casey Cizikas (groin strain) will skate tomorrow, but once I have a full list of participants I'll provide an update.
