One goal, falling away from the net, showed skill. Another, with a pass on a 2 on 1 that deflected under Jonathan Quick, was fortunate.

Here's Brad Richards, after his second game on left wing:

"Some nights you get a lot of chances and they don’t go in, some nights you get one or two and they both go in. It was bound to happen eventually, our line had a lot of good chances, we were buzzing, it was good to get rewarded…"

"We just played a lot more desperate hockey, I think we had the realization of what’s ahead of us on this road trip. We had a lot more battle level, we went over some of the one on one battles that we lost (in Phoenix) and little details. We focused on that and played a real solid first period, and we handled their surges…

On the win: "It’s good for everybody in the organization, we believe in what we’re doing but it never hurts to get two points on the board, and get that out of the way. That was night and day, the difference from how we played a week ago, our compete level and our battle level."

"It’s good to feel good about a win, you contribute, you win, and you can build on it. I felt more comfortable than I thought on left wing in Phoenix, but we still get beat 4-1, still a lot of work to do over there; its not second nature."
