Chris Kreider: "No expectations coming in..."

The Rangers top offensive prospect, Chris Kreider, met the press this afternoon:

"I have no expectations coming in...just going to try and be a sponge. They definitely sent the message that if you want to play, you're going to prove you are ready to play.

He said he has to "earn" anything he receives, sayd other teammates "have already earned right to be here."

In describing his game, talked about energy, keeping his feet moving, how he's improved on defense since freshman year at BC.

Kreider says he celebrated NCAA championship for one day, then set about the decision to turn pro, which including making sure he wasn't going to lose credits

Brian Boyle spoke with him on the ice during practice and Kreider said that he feels he has been accepted by players.

Later, coach John Tortorella made a statement and asked that he not be questioned about the 20 year old:

"We're happy he's here and that he's a Ranger...from here we'll go day by day...this is a man we feel has a great future."
