In 2nd start, Chad Johnson knows "what to expect"
St. Louis---Rookie goaltender Chad Johnson, who will be in the nets tonight against the Blues, said he will feel more comfortable after two NHL appearances.
"I feel like I sort of know what to expect," the 23-year-old backup to Henrik Lundqvist said. "The first five minutes will set the tone while I try to read a lot of things, the players, the speed, the lighting, the ice. I just want to improve, like you would on any level."
Improvement would be terrific for the Rangers, although Johnson---who was told about the start this morning--- allowed just one goal on 32 shots through overtime against Atlanta on Jan. 7, and made three of five saves in the shootout in a poised performance in the 2-1 loss. Not too shabby. He also recorded an assist.
Johnson ranked fifth in the AHL in goals (2.02) and had three shutouts when he was recalled Monday after playing for Hartford over the weekend, presumably with this start in mind, because the Rangers host Montreal tomorrow at the Garden, where a rested Lundqvist will return.
