John Mitchell signs 2-year deal with Colorado
Mitchell, 27, a nice enough guy who received lots of playing time on bottom six under John Tortorella, but couldn't find the net enough, goes to Avalanche. Not a huge loss; perhaps an opening for Konopka or a prospect. Mitch was good on faceoffs, but had no goals after Jan. 24.
Consider: Mitchell's $1.1 mil per is just $200,000 less than Martin Biron's paycheck.
