Knee surgery for McIlrath; Beukeboom coaching Whale
Was on the East End yesterday, so if anyone missed the two pieces of news, here ya go.
Dylan McIlrath underwent surgery for a dislocated kneecap, which he sustained during prospect camp in a collision with Kyle Jean. Will be monitored over the summer. Doesn't sound good at all.
On the positive side, Beukeboom, a former defenseman, replaces J.J. Daigneault as an assistant in Hartford, working with the blueliners. Good move.
The third day of talks between the NHL and NHLPA on a new CBA concluded; another session scheduled for Toronto on Tuesday. Deputy Commish Bill Daly called the meetings "productive".
