He tested pinstriped pads and his Stadium Series mask with the Yankee legends on ice in Westchester on Wednesday, which means Henrik Lundqvist was feeling better after missing Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Islanders.

His aim in not even backing up Cam Talbot was to try to assure that he would shake his sudden illness and be ready for Thursday's match against the Blues at MSG. And he was clearly prepping for the start against the Devils on Sunday in the Bronx.

David LeNeveu, signed to a one-day contract to back up Talbot, had to be placed on waivers, and will report back to Hartford if/when he clears...

All the Rangers were present and accounted for, including Del Zotto, who stayed on ice late with Mats Zuccarello. He may have been aware that a trade was impending, but didn't discuss it .

After pre-game warmups, Del Zotto was usually the last guy on ice, giving a high-five to Zuke or, when he was here, Brandon Prust. Wonder if anyone will assume that role....

Del Z, as Torts liked to call him, was 2-9-11 in his fifth season with the Rangers. Nashville GM David Poile said this afternoon that they hoped to sign the defenseman to a long-term contract. Think he could use a fresh start. To think that the Rangers passed on drafting Cam Fowler, in part, because they thought Del Zotto would continue growing into a top 3 D. Perhaps he will in Nashville.

I should have some quotes from Kevin Klein at the morning skate at MSG. Slats said he was arriving in New York Wednesday night. BTW. Klein played with Girardi and Callahan in Guelph in 2003-04. His twitter is @realkevinklein8

As written elsewhere, he's a shot blocker and PKer, very underrated player, according to some. Hey, Poile did sign him to a five year deal.
