More evaluations tonight, as the Rangers host the Wings in the back half of a home-and home. As John Tortorella said today, Rangers were “schooled” in the 5-3 loss at The Joe on Sunday, and have since spent a lot of time working on their play in the defensive zone.

Tonight’s lineup:

Frolov-Christensen-Gaborik

Kennedy-Anisimov-Callahan

Avery-Stepan-Fedotenko

Boogaard-White-Prust.

(Editor’s note: Stepan’s got a little more offense around him than White, no? ...That second line played well in Jersey)

D: Gilroy-Valentenko, Staal-Sauer, Rozsival-Del Zotto

(Editor’s note: Showcase for Sauer, Valentenko. The Russian kid told me today that his physical play stems from watching Darius Kasparaitis while growing up in Moscow.

G: Lundqvist (expected to play entire game)

Biron (who was breaking in new Bauer pads today after wearing an old pair of Lundqvist’s in camp)

Healthy scratches: McDonagh, Girardi, Dubinsky, Boyle. Torts says McDonagh will play at least one vs Sens...

Precautionary scratches: Prospal (knee) Torts says Vinny pushed hard in camp, aggravated it a bit, and will use him at left wing and center in the final two exhibition games), Eminger (groin). Expect to see him in one of the B2B home and home against Ottawa.

“We’re still not sure, not only what the [final] 23 are, but what the lines are going to be,” Tortorella said. “We’re beginning to form some thoughts as far as lines, but that center ice position is still in the air as far as where everybody fits...."

Overall, he said, "If that person that we think could be going to Hartford plays a really good game, you have to be fair. We have discussions where we try to forecast, but you can’t look too far ahead because then you’re not being fair to the athletes---we’ve got to let them play, and I’m sure we’re going to cut down here shortly.”

Notes & Quotes

All in the family. Derek Boogaard’s sister, Krysten, is 6-5, a senior at Kansas and center for the Jawhawks women. He says she hopes to play in the WNBA or Europe...Chris Drury (broken finger) took a conditioning skate and worked out for the second consecutive day and will see the doctor for a checkup later today and next week. IR seems likely, but he said he wants to be optimistic and won’t rule out an opening night appearance….It appears that Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Holstrom won’t be in Wings lineup. Bertuzzi and Franzen will…Sean Avery, said Tortorella, has been really good around the net.
