WASHINGTON----If this is what the rest of the series is like, buckle up.

The Rangers should not be discouraged by Game 1, they played even with the Caps after the midway point of the game, but couldn’t beat Michael Neuvirth (24 saves) more than once. Both teams blocked shots like crazy: Caps 32, Rangers 28

“We had our moments,” said Rangers coach John Tortorella. Henrik Lundqvist, he said “is going to have to be our best player.” Said Bruce Boudreau: “At one point I didn’t know if there was ever going to be a way to beat that guy.”

Caps outshot Rangers 10-6 in overtime and attempted 80 shots, 33 on goal and 19 wide….There were just four penalties called in the game, none in the third or OT…Mats Zuccarello played just 7:34 and Erik Christensen just 10:54…Alex Ovechkin had six shots on goal and seven blocked…Marian Gaborik led the Rangers with four shots….Chris Drury won 6 of 8 faceoffs…Brandon Dubinsky had four hits but beyond one really good shift was not that noticeable offensively….Bryan McCabe has six attempts blocked.
