Neil, who may have had the edge in the fight, raised an arm to implore the home crowd to cheer and skated off with both arms in the air.

But Brad Richards, who had a goal and assist, said the lift on the Rangers bench was vital to getting the Rangers back in the game. “It started with Prust,” he said. “You can tell he wanted this one.”

John Scott and Jeff Woywitka were healthy scratches and haven’t dressed in the series. Steve Eminger (ankle sprain) and Mats Zuccarello (fractured wrist) also were scratched for the sixth time.

Senators coach Paul MacLean wasn’t happy with his club. “They (the Rangers) sure came out and played and we didn’t match the level of desperation,” he said. “I would’ve liked to see us play harder. I’m not sure we had focus tonight, thought we were distracted.”
