Little more than two weeks before veterans report to training camp, the Rangers are close to signing winger Eeli Tolvanen, a source with knowledge of the negotiations confirmed.
Tolvanen, 27, will reportedly agree to a one-year deal worth $1.5 million, according to PuckPedia, which was first to report the signing. He had 12 goals 24 assists, 36 points in 78 games last season for the Seattle Kraken, and has 92 goals, 98 assists and 190 points in 423 career games for Seattle and Nashville.
A 5-10, lefthanded shot from Vihti, Finland, Tolvanen played on either wing for the Kraken, generally somewhere among the middle six forwards. He was a first round draft pick, 30th overall, by Nashville in 2017, and was claimed off waivers by Seattle during the 2022-23 season. He became a regular in the lineup for the Kraken and scored 67 goals 139 points in 288 games for them.
