Rangers extend Dane Byers
Dane Byers, 24, who captained the Wolf Pack last season and scored 25 goals and 27 assists in 74 games, agreed to a contract extension, the Rangers announced. Byers scored once in five games with the big club, in his NHL debut on Oct. 30 in Minnesota, and had 31 penalty minutes. Byers, an RFA, earned $500,000 last year, his fifth in Hartford.
