With his two-week conditioning stint complete, center Erik Christensen was recalled from Hartford. Christensen, 2-1-3 in five games with eight penalty minutes for the Whale, was a healthy scratch Tuesday night.

The Rangers are carrying 14 forwards, but John Tortorella said there were no plans for Wojtek Wolski, who has played only nine games and again was a healthy scratch, to be sent for conditioning. Wolski and his agent would have to agree to the proposal.

Jeff Woywitka (bruised bone, foot) also did not dress, but is the only healthy spare defenseman.

The Rangers reportedly are trying to move Wolski, 25. He was acquired Jan. 10, 2011, from Phoenix for Michal Rozsival and is in the final year of his contract.

Goalie Johnson recalled

Goaltender Chad Johnson was recalled from Connecticut because Martin Biron called in sick with the flu Tuesday morning. In 25 games for the Whale this season, Johnson has a 10-8-5 record, 2.65 GAA and a .910 save percentage. He appeared in one NHL game last season.

Around the rink

Mike Rupp's bout with the Jets' Chris Thorburn at 6:14 of the first period was the winger's seventh major of the season, second on the Rangers to Brandon Prust's 12 . . . Anton Stralman's assist on Ryan Callahan's goal at 4:05 of the first broke an eight-game pointless drought . . . The Jets were without three top players -- Evander Kane (concussion), Dustin Byfuglein (lower body, missed his 15th game) and Alexander Burmistrov, who left Monday's game with an upper-body injury . . . The Giants' Lawrence Tynes, whose field goal secured a trip to the Super Bowl, attended the game.
