Ryan Callahan back in front on power play; Talbot starts
The captain, who has four power play goals but had not been on either of the man-advantage units during the recent 0-14 slide, was back in front of the net on one unit at the morning skate.
Chris Kreider, who had been in that spot, remains on that unit as a forward. Brad Richards, who had been on one point with Ryan McDonagh, moved to the other unit's point, with Dan Girardi. Callahan had two goals and an assist at even strength on Tuesday against Colorado.
That unit had Derick Brassard, Benoit Pouliot (in front) and Mats Zuccarello as the other forwards.
Callahan's agent, Steve Bartlett, and GM Glen Sather, are continuing to discuss a new contract.
Cam Talbot 10-4-, 1.78, .935) will be in net for the first time since a 5-3 loss (one empty netter) to the Isles on Jan. 21. His last win, 4-1, was Jan. 18 in Ottawa. Ben Scrivens is between the pipes for the Oilers, who have won four of five. The Rangers, with 65 points, are looking for their fifth consecutive win and have no other lineup changes.
