Coyotes captain Shane Doan, said on Thursday that while he prefers to remain in Phoenix but is doing some due diligence on other cities, is schmoozing with Rangers brass today in Manhattan, according to arizonasports.com.

There is mutual interest between the 35-year-old free agent forward, who has been in Manhattan for the past two days while attending CBA negotiations, and the Blueshirts.

A Rangers team spokesman would not confirm or deny the meeting, just declined to comment.  But it makes sense.

Doan, a 17-year-veteran, said on Thursday after the CBA talks in Manhattan ended that he wanted to make a decision on whether to sign a multi-year deal in Phoenix or elsewhere as soon as possible in order for his four children to be settled in school.
