---Cliff Richard on stage, 1983

So it goes. Time to resume our FWC (Fabulous Weekly Chats) tomorrow afternoon, 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., OK?

A lot of folks have been fuming about the roster moves while I've scooted off for a couple short breaks---with a longer, across-the-pond one coming in early August.

Understood.

But if you've been reading here, in the paper and elsewhere since the end of the season, you should have been aware that your Rangers weren't going to toss tens of millions at free agents. They have several immovable, cap-unfriendly deals.

Agree or disagree with them, coach John Tortorella (preaching patience) and President/GM Glen Sather have insisted that they wanted to get younger and develop from within.

Most writers who cover the team wrote that the team's priorities were signing Staal and Girardi, keeping core kids, acquiring a backup goalie (check), depth D, (check) and a top center. That last one is yet to surface, and may not by the start of camp.

Again, we will repeat, like it or not, this team is transitioning. It's tough to be optimistic when you watch Pittsburgh shore up on defense and the Devils open Vanderbeek's vault for Kovy. Summer of discontent? Sure. But things change during the season, too....

Anyway, you folks have the floor tomorrow to vent at management, stomp around and lob questions at me. The velocity at which I lob the answers back is to be determined, eh?

Join in....
