Forward Sean Avery reported to AHL Hartford, but did not skate today, we're told, and perhaps won't tomorrow, because he's getting treatment. Type: Undisclosed. And Aves is not being made available to the media at the moment.

Avery, 31, took a high stick to the mouth in the third period of the exhibition game against Frolunda in Gothenburg on Sept. 30. and did not return. He was a healthy scratch for the next two games, in Slovakia and in Zug, Switzerland, before being waived Oct. 4  and cleared. His agent said that playing in Europe was a possibility.

The Connecticut Whale have an annual media luncheon on Thursday and it is unclear whether Avery will be there and whether the press will have access to No. 16. Doesn't sound like it.  Avery probably has been asked to avoid any comment. He did, politely many times, avoid post-game questions at times during his Rangers career.

The Whale play Friday night in Albany and have their home opener Saturday... If he doesn't practice, doubt Avery will play upstate at the Pepsi Center Friday.
