Rangers get second straight road shutout
John Davidson turned aside all 30 shots he faced as the Rangers completed a four-game road trip with their second straight 4-0 shutout, this one coming against the Minnesota North Stars. Eddie Johnstone had a pair of goals in the first period, the first with the Rangers shorthanded, and assisted on a goal by Walt Tkaczuk. Carol Vadnais opened the scoring with a power-play goal. The Rangers outshot the North Stars 40-30. The Rangers lost the first two games of the road trip by 3-2 scores before shutting out the St. Louis Blues.
