Tim Erixon isn’t sure what to expect from his first Rangers-Islanders game, but he might have a slightly better idea than most first-timers.

What has he heard about the rivalry? “Just a little bit from my dad. I know it will be a great experience,” said the defenseman, whose father, Jan, played in many of these neighborhood games when he was a Ranger.

“He liked to play in these big games. So do I,” the younger Erixon said. When he was asked jokingly if his father told him this was the team he needed to hate, he said, “I pretty much knew that.”

“We’ll see [what it’s like] when I get out there, but I’m just looking to go out and play my game.”
