The injury-plagued Josh Hamilton is on the disabled list again. The Rangers outfielder is expected to miss 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his right shoulder. This makes David Murphy an immediate pickup in all leagues.

Murphy is capable of double-digit home runs and stolen bases. In 138 games last season spanning 419 at-bats he had 12 home runs, 65 RBIs, 54 runs and 14 stolen bases. He should get most of the time in leftfield. The Rangers have been hesitant to use him against lefthanders, so keep that in mind for daily leagues. He's a career .266 hitter against lefthanders and .289 against righthanders.

The Rangers have recalled Chris Davis. The first baseman has excellent power, but has yet to be productive in the majors. He was 9-for-21 (.429) with four home runs and 11 RBIs in five games this season. Davis has always teared up the minors. He's an add in deeper AL-only leagues, but I don't think he gets enough at-bats to be relevant in mixed leagues and his strikeout rate in the majors is extremely high. Mitch Moreland, Mike Napoli, and Michael Young should see most of the at-bats at designated hitter.
