Mark Melancon to close for Astros
As stated in this blog yesterday, Mark Melancon was the pickup to get saves for the Astros and it was made official today. The Astros placed Brandon Lyon on the 15-day disabled list with a partially torn rotator cuff. He doesn't need surgery.
Melancon has appeared in 18 games and pitched 15 2/3 innings, allowing 14 hits with 12 strikeouts and six walks. He has a 1.72 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP and has a 65 percent groundball rate. Melancon should be owned in all leagues.
