The Rays have been no-hit three times since the beginning of last season. Tonight, they were on the winning side. Matt Garza threw a no-hitter against the Tigers in a 5-0 win for the first in Rays history. He walked one and struck out six. Garza threw 120 pitches; 80 strikes. The righthander faced the minimum. Brennan Boesch drew a walk in the second inning but was erased on a double play. Garza is 11-5 with a 4.06 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.

It is the fifth no-hitter of the season. Garza joins Edwin Jackson, Roy Halladay, Dallas Braden and Ubaldo Jimenez as pitchers to notch the achievement. Braden and Halladay threw perfect games.
