The questions come incessantly about Mike Napoli and owners are ready to cut bait and release him due to his lack of playing time. It has been frustrating, but I have advised all who own Napoli to stay patient and things will work out.

A positive sign came today with the Rangers recalling catcher Taylor Teagarden. How does another catcher help Napoli you ask? It gives manager Ron Washington the flexibility to use Napoli more at designated hitter. Without Teagarden, Yorvit Torrealba was the only other catcher on the roster.

That means if Napoli is at DH and Torrealba gets injured and has to leave  a game, the Rangers would lose the DH. That's not an issue now with Torrealba on the roster. Napoli will also get more games at catcher. The Rangers could use the added offense with the injury to Josh Hamilton.

Napoli is a good offensive player that provides power and should be even better playing in Texas because of the ballpark. Napoli has hit at least 20 home runs in three consecutive seasons.

Napoli has started just nine of the Rangers' first 18 games and he may be sitting on the waiver wire because of an impatient owner. He strikes out a lot and won't have a great average, but did hit .273 in 2008 and .272 in 2009. He has three home runs in just 24 at-bats and actually has a 3/7 K/BB ratio.
