Islip's Chris Wade beat two-time PFL champion Lance Palmer in their featherweight season opener on April 28, 2022 at Esports Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Here's what happened as Wade picked up three points in the division standings.

Lance Palmer is a two-time PFL champion at featherweight who entered the PFL Week 2 bout against Chris Wade on a two-fight losing streak.

Islip-raised Chris Wade enters his fourth season in the PFL. He was a lightweight semifinalist in Seasons 1 and 2 and reached the final in Season 3, his first at featherweight.

Round 1 of Chris Wade vs. Lance Palmer was a close round, with Wade being more active and landing more strikes, but Palmer appeared to land the heavier strikes with four or five strong left jabs throughout the round.

Ulimately for the three-round fight, Chris Wade landed 66 of his 126 strike attempts (52.4%) compared with Palmer connecting of 30 of 56 shots (53.6%).

Chris Wade and Lance Palmer are both decorated wrestlers, yet there were only two takedown attempts -- both by Palmer. He was successful on one of them, but it didn't lead to much as Wade used a guillotine choke attempt to fend off any potential ground work from Palmer and to get back to his feet. That led to a total of 13 seconds of ground time in the bout.

Chris Wade did most of his damage in close quarters, with 87% of his strikes landed being in the inner zone. Lance Palmer was more even distanced with his strikes, with just 51.9% of his strikes coming in the inner zone.

Less than half of the strikes Chris Wade connected on were punches. He had 32 arm strikes compared with 34 leg strikes on Lance Palmer.

The judges scored the bout in favor of Chris Wade, 30-27, 30-27, 29-28. Wade moves to 21-7 in his career and hasn't lost back-to-back fights in six years. Palmer (22-6) is on a three-fight losing streak, the longest of his career.

The unanimous decision for Wade gave him three points in the PFL's featherweight standings, putting him in a time with the four other winners -- Sheymon Moraes, Alejandro Flores,  Bubba Jenkins and Brendan Loughnane -- at PFL 2 on April 28, 2022.
