As opposed to Matt Bush the year before, Upton was a no-doubter No. 1. With speed, a strong arm and a powerful bat, Arizona drafted Upton and converted him to an outfielder. He debuted in 2007 at age 19 and showed promise during the postseason, hitting .357. He broke out in 2009, hitting .300 with 26 homers and 20 steals, though his numbers dipped in 2010 and 2012. The Diamondbacks traded Upton to the Braves in a seven-player deal before the 2013 season. After two seasons in Atlanta, the Braves traded Upton to the Padres in a six-player deal.
