Claxton leads Hofstra to key win
Speedy Claxton scored 32 points and fueled Hofstra's game-ending 9-0 run en route to a 67-64 win over visiting Maine, which entered the game tied with the Pride for first place in the America East Conference. With Hofstra trailing 64-58 in the closing minutes, Claxton found Jason Hernandez for a three-pointer. He then stole the ball and broke in for a layup before hitting two free throws with 1:03 left to put the Pride in front. Hofstra went on to host the America East championship game and beat Delaware, 76-69, to capture its first NCAA bid in 23 years.
