Bossy: 50 in 50

In the Islanders' 50th game of the season, Mike Bossy scored twice for his 49th and 50th goals in a 7-3 win over Quebec. Bossy, who did not record a shot in the first two periods, scored a power-play goal with 4:10 left in the game. He added No. 50 with 1:29 left to become just the second player in NHL history to score 50 in 50 (Montreal's Maurice "Rocket" Richard was the first in 1944-45). Bossy finished the 1980-81 season with 68 goals and 51 assists in 79 games as the Islanders won the second of four straight Stanley Cups. Interestingly, on the same date five years later, Bossy recorded his 1,000th career point with an assist in a 7-5 win over Toronto. Bossy, the first player in NHL history to score at least 50 goals in nine consecutive seasons, was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991. He had 573 goals and 553 assists in 752 regular-season games.
