Racing Hall of Fame inductees named for 2010
Jockeys Randy Romero and Don Pierce, trainer Buster Millerick and thoroughbreds Point Given, Azeri, Best Pal and Harry Bassett make up the Class of 2010 at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs.
The induction ceremonies begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. and may be seen live on HRTV and on streaming video at hrtv.com and ntra.com.
RANDY ROMERO
Born: Dec. 22, 1957, Erath, La.
Career: 1973-99
Accomplishments: 4,254 wins, including two Breeders' Cup Distaffs (Personal Ensign, 1988; Sacahuista, 1987) and Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (Go for Wand, 1989). Also rode standouts Crème Fraiche, Polish Navy and Housebuster.
DON PIERCE
Born: April 13, 1937, Clebit, Okla.
Career: 1954-84
Accomplishments: 3,546 wins, including four Santa Anita Handicaps (1960, 1962, 1965, 1972) and two Santa Anita Derbys (1964, 1979); rode standouts Kennedy Road, Ack Ack, Silky Sullivan, Flying Paster and Hill Rise.
BUSTER MILLERICK
Born: Nov. 30, 1905, Petaluma, Calif.
Died: Sept. 30, 1986
Career: 1934-84
Accomplishments: Trained 1,886 winners (54 stakes), including Hall of Famer Native Diver, a California-bred whose 37 wins included 34 stakes. Trained for Charles S. Howard, who owned Seabiscuit, and worked for Tom Smith, Seabiscuit's trainer.

Accomplishments: One of the best American thoroughbreds of the 19th Century; 14-race winning streak included the 1871 Belmont and Travers Stakes. Won two 4-mile races at Pimlico on the same day.
