Clemens signs tender
Restricted free agent Kellen Clemens has signed his one-year tender, leaving Leon Washington and Drew Coleman as the Jets' two remaining unrestricted free agents who've yet to ink their tenders. Clemens' signing gives the Jets four quarterbacks on the roster - starter Mark Sanchez and backups Erik Ainge and Kevin O'Connell - and they're flirting with the possibility of adding Mark Brunell as a veteran backup. But that could hinge on what happens with unrestricted free-agent linebacker Jason Taylor, given the Jets can currently only sign one unrestricted free agent because of the rules associated with being a "Final Four" team.
Goodell, Ben meet
The NFL is weighing possible disciplinary action against Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who met with league commissioner Roger Goodell Tuesday after learning he won't be charged in the alleged sexual assault of a Georgia college student. Roethlisberger described the meeting in Manhattan as "very productive," but gave no hint whether he expects to be suspended or fined for several off-field incidents.
GOLFWoods enters Open
Tiger Woods has taken the first step toward playing the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach in June by sending in his entry form. The USGA said it received Woods' entry on Monday. The deadline is April 28.

Clemson hires Brownell
Brad Brownell of Wright State was hired as the basketball coach at Clemson. Brownell succeeds Oliver Purnell, who left to coach DePaul . . . Former Duke star Bobby Hurley will join his brother Dan's staff at Wagner. - AP
