Young sorry for strip club fight
Vince Young has apologized to the Tennessee Titans, his teammates, his family and fans for his role in a fight at a Dallas strip club. The quarterback said Monday he made a mistake being at the club. He received a misdemeanor assault citation, and the NFL is looking into the case.
Young said he hopes commissioner Roger Goodell doesn't feel a suspension is warranted.

Kerr wins LPGA State Farm Classic
Cristie Kerr won the rain-delayed LPGA State Farm Classic in Springfield, Ill., by one shot over Anna Nordqvist and Na Yeon Choi. Kerr shot a 3-under 69 in the final round to finish at 22-under 266.

DeMeo named Hofstra associate
Steve DeMeo was named the associate head coach of the Hofstra men's basketball program. DeMeo had worked as an assistant at Iona, Central Florida and Providence.

Spielberg quits 1050 ESPN
Aaron Spielberg, the program director for 1050 ESPN radio, left the station Thursday. No successor has been named. The station consistently has struggled to challenge WFAN in ratings. "I don't want to comment on why personnel decisions are made, whether they are mutual or by one side,'' 1050 general manager Dave Roberts said.

Liberty picks up Pierson from Tulsa
Looking to bolster their inside presence, the Liberty acquired veteran forward Plenette Pierson from the Tulsa Shock. The Liberty sent fourth-year forward Tiffany Jackson to Tulsa in the deal. - AP
