Fish, Federer advance to Cincy Masters final
A seven-minute rain delay yesterday saved Mardy Fish at the Cincinnati Masters. Fish turned the brief break into a rallying point. Only one game away from a straight-set defeat, he pulled out 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1 victory over boyhood friend and high school teammate Andy Roddick in an all-American semifinal. Fish reached the championship by regrouping during the match's third rain delay. Roddick led 5-2 in the second set when the players briefly went to the locker room. Fish play second-ranked Roger Federer for the title. Federer beat unseeded Marcos Baghdatis 6-4, 6-3 in an evening semifinal that lasted only 70 minutes.
