Nadal clinches Davis Cup
Rafael Nadal recovered from a terrible start and beat Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (0), to give Spain its fifth Davis Cup title Sunday in Seville, Spain. Nadal stretched his record on clay to 16-0 with a 20th straight Davis Cup win.

McIlory wins Hong Kong Open
Rory McIlory rallied to win the Hong Kong Open, holing out from a green-side bunker on the final hole for a 5-under-par 65 to take a two-stroke victory over Gregory Havret. Third-round leader Alvaro Quiros shot 73 to end up seventh . . . Lee Westwood shot 1-over 73 and held off Robert Karlsson for a two-shot win at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in Sun City, South Africa. Westwood led by seven strokes going into the final round.

Prahalis paces Buckeyes
Tayler Hill scored 20 points, Samantha Prahalis (Commack) 19 and No. 17 Ohio State (7-0) made its first nine shots in a 69-63 victory over No. 18 Oklahoma (3-2) in Norman.
Hofstra's Capurso reaches 1,000
Senior Nicole Capurso scored 20 points to reach 1,000 for her career as Hofstra (6-1, 1-0 CAA) cruised to an 86-71 victory over Georgia State in Atlanta. Hofstra also got 16 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals from senior Candice Bellocchio.
Freshman spurs Storm
Freshman Amber Thompson had 19 points and 13 rebounds as host St. John's (5-3) routed Hartford, 70-45. It was the first double-double of her career.-- Combined news services
