OLYMPICSU.S. Olympians get medals back
American sprinters who were stripped of their 2000 Olympics relay medals because teammate Marion Jones was doping won an appeal Friday to have them restored. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled in favor of the women, who appealed the International Olympic Committee's decision to disqualify them from the Sydney Games. The court said the IOC and International Association of Athletics Federations rules in 2000 did not allow entire teams to be disqualified because of doping by one athlete. The IOC said the ruling was "disappointing and especially unfortunate for the athletes of the other teams who competed according to the rules." In Sydney, Jearl Miles-Clark, Monique Hennagan, LaTasha Colander Clark and Andrea Anderson were part of the squad that won gold in the 4x400 relay. Chryste Gaines, Torri Edwards, Nanceen Perry and Passion Richardson were on the 4x100 bronze medal squad. All but Perry joined the appeal.
TOUR DE FRANCE
Joaquin Rodriguez of Spain won a hilly 12th stage of the Tour de France on Friday, beating title contender Alberto Contador in a two-man sprint to the finish. Rodriguez and the defending champion burst from the pack in a steep final climb, leaving behind race leader Andy Schleck and overtaking several breakaway riders. Contador ended up gaining 10 seconds on his rival and now trails Schleck by 31 seconds. Seven-time champion Lance Armstrong lost time to the leader for a third straight day - crossing in 57th place, 3:35 back of Rodriguez. He's 32nd overall, 21:16 behind Schleck.

Howard wants to stay on Team USA
U.S. goalkeeper Tim Howard is ready to grind out the next four-year cycle heading into the 2014 World Cup. "What's gone on in the last four years and where I feel like I'm at in my career, I think I'd be silly not to try and tackle the next four years and give it everything I have," Howard told The Associated Press on Friday. "I feel fitter than I ever have at 31." Howard allowed five goals in four games, with 16 saves, in his first World Cup as a starter. - AP
