There will be no 2005 Heisman winner now that Reggie Bush has returned the award from that year. The head of the Heisman Trophy Trust said yesterday the award will be vacated. "We've determined that there will be no winner," William Dockery said in an interview with ESPN. Bush announced Tuesday he would forfeit the trophy he won with Southern California. In June, the NCAA ruled him ineligible for that season for receiving improper benefits.
TELEVISIONSharpe takes leave
Shannon Sharpe has taken a leave of absence from CBS' NFL studio show in the wake of reports that a woman named Michele Bundy, believed to be his girlfriend, filed a restraining order against him, accusing him of threatening her and stalking her. "I have decided to step aside from 'The NFL Today' until this matter is resolved," Sharpe said in a statement. CBS does not plan to replace Sharpe on its panel, which features James Brown, Dan Marino, Boomer Esiason and Bill Cowher.

AC Milan and Real Madrid began the Champions League with 2-0 victories as English rivals Chelsea and Arsenal opened with high-scoring wins. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his first two goals for AC Milan since joining on loan from Barcelona, leading the Rossoneri over visiting Auxerre. Cesc Fabregas and Carlos Vela each scored twice in Arsenal's 6-0 rout of Portugal's Braga. Chelsea, off to a 4-0 start in the Premier League, beat newcomer Zilina 4-1 despite the absence of suspended striker Didier Drogba.
