Triano let go as Raptors coach
The Raptors announced yesterday they will not exercise their option on coach Jay Triano's contract, but he will be retained as a consultant and special assistant. The Ontario native went 87-142 in three seasons as coach. Toronto finished 22-60 this season, last in the Atlantic Division.
McHale will coach Rockets
The Rockets confirmed that Kevin McHale will replace coach Rick Adelman, who left after four seasons. McHale, a Celtics Hall of Famer, spent 15 seasons, including 14 as general manager, with the Timberwolves. He hasn't coached since going 20-43 with Minnesota to end the 2008-09 season. McHale never has coached a full NBA season.
Panthers introduce Dineen
The Panthers introduced Kevin Dineen as their 11th coach. He follows Pete DeBoer, who was fired April 10. It's Dineen's first NHL head-coaching job.

Lance's lawyers rip "60 Minutes"
Attorneys for Lance Armstrong have demanded an on-air apology from "60 Minutes" after the head of Switzerland's anti-doping laboratory denied allegations that the seven-time Tour de France winner tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs at the 2001 Tour de Suisse. Lawyer Elliot Peters said the May 22 segment on Armstrong was built on falsehoods, and accused the reputable CBS show of sloppy journalism.

Blatter re-elected FIFA boss
Sepp Blatter was re-elected FIFA president in Zurich after a bribery scandal left him as the only candidate to deal with a sport in crisis. The 75-year-old Swiss executive has been in office since 1998.
HORSE RACING
Shackleford, 'Animal' to work
Dale Romans said Preakness winner Shackleford will work out Saturday at Belmont Park. The trainer said if the colt trains well, he'll run June 11 in the Belmont Stakes . . . Trainer Graham Motion said Animal Kingdom, the Kentucky Derby winner and Preakness runner-up, will work out Monday at Belmont . . . Javier Castellano will ride Stay Thirsty, and Ramon Dominguez will replace Rajiv Maragh on Mucho Macho Man.
Zenyatta in foal to Bernardini
Zenyatta, 2010 Horse of the Year, is in foal to Bernardini, according to a web posting by Dottie Ingordo-Shirreffs, wife of John Shirreffs, who trained the 7-year-old mare. -- AP
