Preseason schedule released despite labor dispute
Mired in a labor dispute with the players that leads to questions of whether there will be a regular season, the NFL released the preseason schedule Tuesday that includes nationally televised games for the Jets and Giants, though some of the dates are uncertain. The Jets open the season under the lights Aug. 15, taking on the Texans in Houston on ESPN's "Monday Night Football." The Jets' preseason home opener at New Meadowlands Stadium is scheduled for Week 2 against the Bengals. The Jets also have a "road" game against the stadium co-tenant Giants in Week 3 before finishing up at home against the Eagles in Week 4. The Giants have a nationally televised matchup on ESPN against the Bears at home Aug. 22, a little more than a week after they open their preseason against the Panthers in Carolina. The Giants wrap up their preseason versus the Patriots in Foxborough, Mass.

UConn's Walker headed to the NBA
Connecticut's Kemba Walker announced he will enter the June draft. He said he has not hired an agent but has been talking to them. The 6-1 guard led the Huskies to a 32-9 record, including an 11-0 postseason run that ended with a national championship. Walker is expected to be a first-round pick. Walker thanked coach Jim Calhoun "for turning me into a man." Walker has not yet hired an agent but said: "There's no chance that I'm coming back." . . . Butler's Shelvin Mack, a 6-3 shooting guard, said he is declaring to enter the draft but has not hired an agent.
Gators hire ex-Storm coach Roberts
Florida's Billy Donovan revamped his staff by hiring former St. John's coach Norm Roberts and former Arkansas coach John Pelphrey as assistants. Roberts spent six seasons at St. John's before he was fired last year.

Pletcher says Uncle Mo OK
Kentucky Derby contender Uncle Mo had a physical exam after a disappointing run in the Wood Memorial, and trainer Todd Pletcher said that the 3-year-old colt came out fine.
Stars fire coach Crawford
The Dallas Stars fired coach Marc Crawford after missing the playoffs in each of his two seasons, extending their postseason drought to three years. Crawford went 79-60-25 in Dallas but couldn't get the Stars over the hump. -- AP
