BASEBALLTigers deal Galarraga to Diamondbacks
The Tigers traded righthander Armando Galarraga to the Diamondbacks Monday for righthander Kevin Eichhorn and lefthander Ryan Robowski. Galarraga gained fame last season when umpire Jim Joyce acknowledged blowing a call with two outs in the ninth inning that cost him a perfect game. Galarraga was 4-9 with a 4.49 ERA in 25 games.
Torre may take position with MLB
Joe Torre may not stay retired much longer. The former Dodgers manager is leaning toward accepting a job with commissioner Bud Selig that would allow him to stay in Los Angeles. "He's got a position that he thinks that I can handle," Torre said.

Ben Hansbrough scored 19 points, Carleton Scott had 16 and the 15th-ranked Fighting Irish beat No. 2 Pittsburgh, 56-51, snapping the Panthers' 20-game home winning streak. Pitt (19-2, 7-1 Big East) won 51 of its previous 52 home games. Notre Dame (17-4, 6-3) earned its first road win of the season.
Crosby won't go to All-Star Game
The Penguins announced that Sidney Crosby won't even attend the NHL All-Star Game this weekend in Raleigh, N.C., because he's recovering from a concussion. Crosby will miss his ninth straight game Tuesday night when the Penguins host the Islanders.
Nets extend Cavs' losing streak to 17
Brook Lopez scored the tiebreaking basket with 1.4 seconds left and the host Nets beat Cleveland, 103-101, handing the Cavaliers their 17th straight defeat. Lopez led the Nets with 28 points. Cleveland's slump is its longest since it dropped 19 in a row to end the 1981-82 season . . . Spurs center Tim Duncan suffered a "hyperflexed left knee" in the second quarter at Golden State but returned to start the second half . . . The Mavericks added Peja Stojakovic, waived Thursday by Toronto. - AP
