Toms takes lead
David Toms shot 4-under-par 66 Friday and he is 10 under after two rounds of the PGA Tour's McGladrey Classic in St. Simons Island, Ga. Toms has a one-stroke lead over Joe Durant.
Cochran goes low
Russ Cochran shot a course-record 6-under 64 and he is 6 under after two rounds with a one-shot lead over Michael Allen at the Senior Players Championship at TPC Potomac (Md.) at Avenel Farmon. The lefthander is seeking a third win in his last four events.
Miyazato shoots 63
Japan's Mika Miyazato shot a 9-under 63 to share the second-round lead at 12 under with Na Yeon Choi (64) and Cristie Kerr (67) in the Navistar LPGA Classic in Prattville, Ala.

Rutgers rallies for win
San San Te kicked a 34-yard field goal with 13 seconds to go as Rutgers beat visiting Connecticut, 27-24. Chas Dodd threw a 52-yard TD pass to Mark Harrison to tie it with 3:53 to play and Dodd (18-for-29 passing, 322 yards) set up Te's winning field goal with a 45-yard pass to Jeremy Deering. Rutgers is 3-2, 1-0 Big East. Nick Williams scored on a 100-yard kickoff return for Connecticut (3-3, 0-1).
UConn admits violations
The University of Connecticut has admitted its men's basketball program committed major NCAA recruiting violations and has imposed its own sanctions, including two years' probation and a loss of one scholarship for the next two seasons. The school released its findings in response to an NCAA notice of allegations. - AP
