Big East to go shopping

The presidents and chancellors of the 14 remaining Big East members and TCU have authorized commissioner John Marinatto to "aggressively pursue discussions" with schools interested in joining the league.

Navy, an independent, and Air Force, of the Mountain West, are among the Big East's top targets. There has been speculation that Temple could be invited back. East Carolina has applied for membership, and other Conference USA schools could be considered.

LSU, 'Bama 1 and 2

LSU remained No. 1 and Alabama leapfrogged Oklahoma into the No. 2 spot in The AP poll.

Lynx rolls in Game 1

Rebekkah Brunson had 26 points and 11 rebounds and Seimone Augustus 22 points as the host Minnesota Lynx opened the fourth quarter with a 13-0 run on the way to an 88-74 victory over Atlanta in Game 1 of the WNBA Finals.

Busch wins in Dover

Kurt Busch moved from ninth to fifth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup standings by holding off Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards to win Sunday at Dover (Del.) International Speedway. Edwards and Kevin Harvick are tied for first in the standings. Tony Stewart was 25th and lost the points lead.
