Body of Arum's son found

A search helicopter Friday spotted the body of the son of boxing promoter Bob Arum on a Washington state mountainside, five days after he was reported missing, a national park spokeswoman said. The body belonging to John Arum, 49, an experienced mountain climber, was seen at about the 7,700-foot level of Storm King mountain, an 8,815-foot peak.

Leftwich might miss first month

Byron Leftwich's strained left knee ligament could sideline him for most or all of the first month of the season, leaving the Pittsburgh Steelers with only two healthy quarterbacks - Dennis Dixon and Charlie Batch - for their Sept. 12 opener against Atlanta.

In other news, Broncos tailback LenDale White is out for the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon, a person familiar with the injury told The Associated Press . . . The Cowboys traded receiver Patrick Crayton to San Diego . . . Lions rookie defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was fined $7,500 by the NFL for his roughing-the-passer penalty on Jake Delhomme in a preseason game against the Browns . . . There are no more original Houston Texans. Kicker Kris Brown, the only player left from the inaugural 2002 season, was cut. Brown was beaten out by former Cardinal Neil Rackers, a free agent signed by Houston in the offseason.

Johnson, Day tied for lead

Zach Johnson and Jason Day shot 8-under-par 63s to share the first-round lead at the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Mass. Tiger Woods shot 72 and is three shots below the projected cut . . . Mark Calcavecchia shot 8-under 64 at Del Monte to take a three-stroke lead in the Champions Tour's First Tee Open in Pebble Beach, Calif. - AP
