Bush to be stripped of Heisman

Yahoo! sports is reporting that 2005 Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush is expected to be stripped of the award by the end of the month. The former Southern Cal running back would be the first player to have the Heisman taken away. The report also says the award would be left vacant for '05.

Boise, TCU pick up votes

Third-ranked Boise State gained seven first-place votes and closed in on No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Ohio State in the AP poll. TCU moved up two spots to No. 4. Florida dropped four spots to No. 8 after a sloppy 34-12 victory against Miami (Ohio).

Haynesworth back to Titans?

The Redskins and Titans are in discussions about a trade of disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, people with knowledge of the negotiations told AP on condition of anonymity. Neither team commented on the report. Haynesworth played for the Titans from 2002-08 and signed a $100-million free-agent contract in 2009 with Washington . . . Donovan McNabb said his sprained ankle isn't 100 percent, but that he will start for the Redskins on Sunday against Dallas . . . All 32 teams were told in a memo from the league that the umpire will position himself 12 yards from the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped instead of 15 yards, which should make it easier for teams to use the no-huddle offense.

Bill Parcells is turning over control of the Miami Dolphins to general manager Jeff Ireland but will retain a role as a daily consultant.- AP

Saratoga titles

Todd Pletcher, John Velazquez and Long Island-based owner Mike Repole dominated the 40-day Saratoga meeting that ended Monday. Pletcher trained a record 36 winners for his seventh Spa title. Velazquez rode 57, three more than Javier Castellano, to earn his fourth Saratoga championship. Pletcher saddled eight of Repole's 13 winners, with Velazquez aboard seven. It was the first Saratoga crown for Repole, the New York Racing Association's 2009 leader with 51 wins.
