QB Pryor won't return to Ohio State
The attorney for Ohio State's Terrelle Pryor says the quarterback won't return for his senior season with the Buckeyes. Columbus lawyer Larry James says his client would most likely make himself available for an NFL supplemental draft. Pryor had already been suspended for the first five games of the 2011 season for accepting improper benefits from a Columbus tattoo-parlor owner.
TENNIS
Serena begins comeback
Serena Williams is returning to the tour after nearly a year off because of various health issues. Williams will begin her comeback at a grass-court tournament in Eastbourne, England, next week. She then will defend her title at Wimbledon, which begins June 20. Williams has not played an official match since winning her 13th Grand Slam title at the All England Club last July.
76ers could be sold within week
The Philadelphia 76ers are on the market and a person familiar with the deal says the franchise once home to Wilt Chamberlain, Charles Barkley and Allen Iverson could be sold within the week. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the deal with the group led by New York-based leveraged buyout specialist Joshua Harris is not yet complete.

W. Babylon's Smith is top woman
Shannon Smith of Northwestern has won the Honda Sports Award as the top woman in college lacrosse. Smith, of West Babylon High School, led the Wildcats to the NCAA title last month.
BOXING
Mayweather to face Ortiz in Sept.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is returning to the ring. The undefeated six-time world champion announced on his Twitter feed he will end a 16-month hiatus when he faces WBC welterweight champion Victor Ortiz on Sept. 17. -- AP
