Nadal tops Djokovic in Rome
Rafael Nadal showed he's still the man to beat on clay, defeating Novak Djokovic, 7-5, 6-3, yesterday in a rain-delayed final in Rome to win his record sixth Italian Open and regain the No. 2 ranking.
After losing to Djokovic in seven straight finals -- including Rome last year -- Nadal has won two straight against the top-ranked Serb after also capturing the Monte Carlo Masters on clay. Nadal also moved ahead of Roger Federer in the rankings with the French Open starting Sunday.
Djokovic, drained in Monte Carlo after the death of his grandfather, made 41 unforced errors in this match. His double-fault on the last point gave Nadal his 49th career title and his 35th on clay.

Judge denies delay in Sandusky trial
The June child sex-abuse trial of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky will not be delayed, a judge ruled in Harrisburg, Pa. Jury selection is to begin June 5.
Sandusky lawyer Joe Amendola had asked for the delay May 9, arguing that he needed more time to find and interview witnesses, and that pending criminal charges against two Penn State administrators made them unavailable as witnesses.
Sandusky, 68, faces 52 criminal counts for alleged abuse of 10 boys across 15 years, allegations he has repeatedly denied.
The judge has placed a gag order on the prosecutors and defense attorneys, thus there was no comment from either camp.
Bucs deal Winslow
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have traded tight end Kellen Winslow to the Seattle Seahawks for a draft pick and signed former Colts star Dallas Clark to replace him. Earlier in the day, Winslow told SiriusXM radio that first-year coach Greg Schiano was "kind of upset" that Winslow has not been working out with the team and told the player that he would be dealt. Winslow had 75 receptions for 763 yards and two TDs in 2011.
