Norman: Why pick Tiger?

Greg Norman said he would not have picked slumping Tiger Woods to play in the Presidents Cup. Norman told the Fort Myers (Fla.) News-Press on Saturday that PGA champion Keegan Bradley would have been a more logical choice for U.S. captain Fred Couples.

Norman is the International team captain for next month's Presidents Cup. "I can understand the name of a Tiger Woods and his history of what he's done on the golf course," he said. "But I pick the guys who . . . have performed to the highest levels leading up to it."

Crane wins playoff

Ben Crane, seven shots behind with 11 holes to play, ran off seven birdies for a 7-under-par 63. He then won a sudden-death playoff in the McGladrey Classic when Webb Simpson missed a short par putt on the second hole Sunday in St. Simons Island, Ga. With his runner-up finish, Simpson moved to the top of the money list over Luke Donald, the No. 1 player in the world ranking. Both players have entered the season-ending tournament next week in Disney, and Donald would have to finish no worse than second to have any chance in his bid to become the first player to win money titles on the PGA Tour and European Tour. . . Fred Couples ran away with the Champions Tour's AT & T Championship in San Antonio, shooting a bogey-free 6-under 66 for a seven-stroke victory.
